Martial Arts Training Equipment!! (10 points)?
10 December 2010, 2:33 pm

I have a large room in my house and Iam turning it to my own gym. I practice shitoryu karate and I was wondering where I could find traditional equipment for karate practitioners. Which heavy-bag would you recommend for me?? Thnx

By referring to traditional training equipment I suppose you are meaning Hojo Undo? Well it is easier to make your own, and cheaper, than to buy it. If you don’t know how to make it then you probably do not know how to train with it. Also a heavy bag is not a traditional item in Karate…the correct item would be a makiwara…however we do use heavy bags. There are several places on the internet that explain how to make your equipment.

Also I am not sure why you would call a training place a gym if you study Shito Ryu Karate…I would have thought you would refer to it as a dojo.
