Hi Everyone
I just had to say something after reading this book.
I hope you don't mind Rick, but I'm posting a copy of my semi-review on here because I think it's a serious issue and I hope I can encourage others to grab a copy of this book.
Bullying has always existed and it always will. I don’t believe it can ever be removed from society, we just have to learn how to deal with it and prevent it from affecting us and the ones we love.
“When Bullies Attack” is a great book for every parent that has concerns about their children’s safety. You can’t always be there to protect them and a Bully will always wait for a moment of opportunity to single out and pick on your child when it suits them, not you.
I think Mr. Kirkhams background in the education system has given him a better understanding than most about when and how a schoolyard bully will attack his target (possibly Your child).
Right from the start of this book you will learn the pros and cons of learning a martial art for self defence and how to drastically improve your child’s chances of success when the real push comes to shove and they have no other option.
There are some great drills to prepare them for the reality of a violent attack. I know this book was written to help young kids deal with bullies but a lot of the info in here can be used by adults just as effectively. We all know that the schoolyard bully often grows up to be the bar room brawler, the obnoxious workmate, maybe even the domineering boss.
Learning to face a bully with confidence is a life skill that can change a child’s future like the butterfly effect.
Look at it this way, if the fear of bullying gets into your child’s mind it may make them give up playing a sport or learning a musical instrument. They may be very smart but pretend not to be because they don’t want to be picked on. They may lose confidence and go into their shell, frightened to meet new people and make new friends, be scared to have an opinion, even refuse to go to school when things become too overwhelming. This kind of fear really limits the way they can build their future.
On the other hand... Learning to control their fear and facing a bully with confidence can give them the strength to face many other difficult situations and work their way through them. Life is never going to be all easy days but it does go a lot smoother for the people with strong minds and bodies.
Sorry, I feel like I’ve wandered off from the content of the book but I think Bullying is a serious problem that shapes the lives of our youth and I think this book has some great insights, drills, techniques, psychology to really make a difference for anyone suffering at the hands of a bully.
I hope all parents have read this review/rant and understand what I’m trying to say.
I feel this information is really that important and although we can never erase bullying we can all work at removing it from our lives and teach the kids to remove it from theirs.

www.martialgames4kids.com ps. My only negative comment is I wish it had more pictures to help illustrate the drills, I'd love to see a picture of the Author making an aggresive/scary face when your being the bully. The only photos I've seen of him, he's always smiling.
pps. But seriously I hope this book gets the attention it deserves.
