My name is Rick Kirkham. I’m the author of When Bullies Attack – Self-Defense Book for Kids. I don’t believe I can put in writing the emotion I feel every time I hear or see a child being bullied. This has to stop.

Feel free to use these self-defense for children, bully protection and bully recognition resources and more importantly, help this stop by adding your own resources and stories….

  1. Wow Rick, what a nice site you have made here.
As a parent of 3 boys and two girls I educated my children to not become bullies themselves.

Perhaps if more parents educated their own children not to become bullies – then their would be less bullies around to contend with in the first place.

Myself personally – I was ruthlessly bullied in junior school because at age 7, I was an immigrant and came to the school without knowing a word of English.

At first, I was teased with name calling – like – “get out of our school you bloody wog!!”

    I ignored the teasing.

Then it turned to stone throwing + name calling.

I dodged the stones and ignored the name calling for around six months.

Then one day 7, 12 year old boys bailed me up on the way home and tried to remove my gold chain and cross from my neck.

The ambulance carted off 7 unconscious boys and I was expelled from the school. [I had been trained in marshal arts since the age of 4 in Israel.]

Through this act I had verified the local opinion that all immigrant children, who came from war torn countries were violent misfits.

From then on my reputation preceded me and I never got bullied by anyone again. Thereafter I got enrolled in 11 schools and expelled as soon as they got the report from the previous schools.

My grandfather home schooled me and I went to university at the age of thirteen. Instead of getting bullied at Uni my peers were really protective and helpful.

Had I not had such a wonderful grandfather my life may have turned out very differently.

    Cheers,

    Kitty.
